Binding: Eighteenth century, France. Tan, mottled sheepskin; gold-tooled spine and red label with title: "Passio/ M. S. XIII. S"., Part I: 3-line red initial, f. 1r, with penwork designs extending length of inner margin. Headings, marginalia, paragraph marks, initial strokes, in red, through f. 39r only., Script: Part I (ff. 1-48): Written in humanistic bookhand, below top line. Part II (ff. 49-77): Written by multiple scribes in different styles of humanistic bookhand., and Watermarks, in gutter: Part I: similar in design to Piccard Waage VII.261-66 and similar to Piccard Werkzeug IV.1162-63; unidentified crossed arrows and balance within a circle. Part II: similar to Piccard Waage V.378 and similar in design to Piccard Waage VII.261-66; unidentified bull's head and same unidentified balance in a circle as in Part I.

Binding: Fifteenth century, Italy. Strips cut from a parchment manuscript (text washed) are adhered around the fold of each quire. Original sewing on three kermes pink, slit straps. The parchment sides are sewn with the first and last quires., Large decorated initial, f. 2r, 16-line. Body of initial formed of intricate interlace bands, yellow and brown washes, against paper and yellow and brown ground; exhibits strong shading. Display script in red and blue. Rubrics (pale red) in text in humanistic bookhand., Script: Written in a calligraphic and sometimes flamboyant humanistic cursive script by a single scribe, below top line., and Watermarks: unidentified letter (?), in gutter.

In Latin., Watermarks: unidentified bull's head., Script: Written primarily (ff. 44-294) by a single person in a cramped running script, with many abbreviations and in a more elegant display script for some headings and colophon; several other writers are responsible for arts. 1-4., Plain initials, headings, and paragraph marks, in red, for ff. 1r-29v. Spaces left for initials and rubrics on ff. 44r-294r., and Binding: Fifteenth century. Original sewing on three double, twisted, tawed thongs which are laced into wooden boards of unequal shape and thickness. Plain, wound endbands sewn on tawed cores are laced into the boards from the spine edge. The cover is adhered to the square spine and kermes pink placemarks to the fore-edge. One quarter covered in brown calf, blind-tooled with lines forming triangles, and very small flowers. One fastening, the catch on the upper board, the brown calf strap attached to the lower with a metal plate. Parchment labels at head of front board. Lower joint repaired, strap wanting.
