Abstract:
Autograph manuscript, signed, of a highly decorated and illustrated genealogy of the rulers of England from Egbert of Wessex to Queen Elizabeth I. The genealogical trees are illustrated with coats of arms, in full color, as well as marriage symbols and other decorations. Pages 13-14 and 33-34 are parchment rather than paper and contain an abbreviated and stylized family tree for Elizabeth I; color illustrations of an angelic figure with a trumpet and an armored knight; and a full-color chart with the white and red roses of York and Lancaster as the central roundel containing the name of Elizabeth I. The charts are followed by "Briefe observations of the disposition, of everie severall kynge of England from William the Conqueror untill this present 1592." The text concludes with Colman's monogram in red ink. The volume concludes with a full-color illustration of the coat of arms of Sir Francis Bacon

Abstract:
Autograph manuscript, signed, on paper, of a list of many of the Knights of the Round Table and summaries of their histories as given in Thomas Malory's Morte d'Arthur. Some entries are accompanied by pen-and-ink drawings of coats of arms. The work may have been modeled on Les devise des armes de chevaliers de la table ronde, published by Antoine Verard. Grinken's preface notes that he has not included "many faned and vaine taylles" and connects his interest in the Round Table with Prince Arthur's Knights, the archery fellowship founded by "Kynge Henry of fames memory." The preface concludes with "vivat Regina."

In Latin., Ff. 74v-75r contain 20 lines of a prayer: "O sacro sanctissimo ochino di pieta," in an Italic script., Layout: single columns of 14 lines., Script: late Beneventan miniscule., Decoration: Extensive. Many small capitals alternately blue and gold with penwork in red and purple. 30 three-line and rwo-line initials either in burnished gold with purple penwork or dark blue with red penwork; very large illuminated initial on opening page with leafy design and burnished gold outlined in red enclosing formal floral pattern, with full-length bar extending into upper and lower margins., Binding: 16th century limp parchment. Cover is made from a 15th-century portolan chart of part of the Adriatic coast of Apulia (Schøyen Collection title: Portolan map of the Adriatic Coast of Apulia in the kingdom of Napoli from Rinaldo south as far as Port Badisco, including Otranto and inland towns with little hills.) 230 mm x 160 mm (flattened).
