Alfred L. Broadbent (A.L.B.?) was an engineer on the U.S.S. Bear, a revenue cutter active in the Arctic during the 1890s. Photographs are accompanied by manuscript captions. Of the loose photographs, most are inscribed with the initials "A.L.B" with the exception of single images credited to Curtis of Seattle, T. Saiki, and McMurry of Port Townsend, Washington Territory.
