Incipit: "Wa-hādhihi risālah tusammá 'al-Fāshūsh fī ḥukm Qarāqūsh' lil-Ḥāfiẓ Jalāl al-Dīn al-Suyūṭī. Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm, wa-bi-hi thiqatī. al-Ḥamdu lillāh wa-salāmun ʻalá ʻibādihi alladhīna iṣṭafá. Wa-baʻd, fa-qad suʼiltu fī darsī bi-al-Jāmiʻ al-Ṭūlūnī fī awākhir al-Muḥarram, sanat tisʻ wa-tisʻīn wa-thamānimiʼah [19 November 1493] ʻan al-Amīr Bahāʼ al-Dīn Qarāqūsh, wa-hal la-hu aṣlun fī al-tārīkh am lā, wa-hal mā yuʻzá ilayhi min al-ḥikāyāt al-muḍḥikah la-hā aṣl am lā, fa-jamaʻtu hādhihi al-awrāq fī tilka al-laylah wa-ḥarrartuhā fī sāʻah qalīlah, wa-kadhā aṣl wujūdihi ..."
