Abstract: A scale is depicted in which Lord North, dressed as a washerwoman, is weighed down with the assistance of Fox (a fox on the cross beam). Or the right, Lord Shelburne, depicted as a Jesuit in monastic garb wearing the ribbon of a Knight of the Garter and holding a money bag signed "Blessings of Peace" in his right hand, sits in the upper pan of the balance, with his tombstone below. The attacks of the North-Fox coalition eventually led to Shelburne's stepping down in February 1783
