Fox is stripped to the waist, a rope round his neck is attached to the animal's tail, his hands are on the animal's hind-quarters; he looks over his right shoulder with an expression of anguish. Justice, a blind-folded woman in pseudo-classical draperies, stands with a knotted scourge raised to strike; she says "Vengence is mine, I will repay".
