Design attributed to Captain Mercer. According to Henry Angelo, a series of plates, four figures on each, was designed by Mercer, a military officer, with the title applied from Mrs. Inchbald's comedy. Cf. Angelo, H. Reminiscences of Henry Angelo, 1904, vol. 1, p. 328.
