Description
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. This is a sample Tibetan, our next door neighbor. He is heading barley. He can read and write Tibetan and teaches a number of Tibetan children. He is ordinarily well dressed but unlike the educated Chinese is not too good to do manual work when necessary. For strong stalwart men the Tibetans are ahead of any people I have seen. This photograph is from the papers of Frank and Verna Garrett who served under the United Christian Missionary Society in the Nanjing area from 1896 to 1932.
