An ornate altar inside the Buddhist monastery is decorated with statues and artwork. Kushan Monastery is located about four hours ride by sedan-chair from Foochow.
This photo is from the papers of Emily Susan Hartwell, who was an American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions missionary stationed in Foochow, Fukien from 1884.
