The back of the postcard is blank and contains a printed title: "(5) ILES SAMOA. Trois petits chretiens d'Oceanie qui ne semblent pas malheureux (Missions des Peres Maristes)." ("(5) SAMOA ISLANDS. Three small Christians of Oceania who do not seem unhappy (Missions of the Marist Fathers).") The back also contains printed information from the publisher: "Edite par <>, Revue mensuelle, 30, rue Lhomond, Paris (5e), 10 fr. par an. Ch. post. 1718-45, Paris." The Marist Fathers were a Catholic order.
Three Samoan children stand side by side. The boy in the middle wears a cross and his hair is shaved.
