Description
A hand-tinted postcard depicts a teacher holding a stick standing before a very large ant mound. Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. The back of the card has no handwriting. Printed at the edge of the correspondence section is "Universities' Mission to Central Africa, 9. Dartmouth Street, Westminster. Ant Hill and African Teacher. There are over 400 African tachers in the Universities Mission, who, after training, are put in charge of village schools under the superintendence of an English Missionary. Their wages are about 10s a month. Over 13,000 children were attending school in 1910.
