Abstract: "An elderly parson (right) capers wildly, arms outstretched, wig flying off, his hat on the floor. On the left a comely wife and two boys watch him with astonishment. They sit by a table on which are wine and fruit. She says: "Why my Dear-you are quite frantic, what is the matter with you". He answers: "Frantic-I believe I am,-I have been preaching before Royalty, our Fortunes are made,-such a Sermon-neat text-quarter of an hours discourse-appropriate prayer at the conclusion,-O, to see them cry, it would have melted an heart of Stone,-Oh bless that Mrs Clarke I shall never forget her"."--British Museum online catalogue.
