"Cette édition ... a été tirée sur vélin d'Arches: 100 exemplaires numérotés de 1 à 100, 25 exemplaires hors commerce numérotés de I à XXV. Chaque exemplaire est accompagné d'une suite sur Japon. Les gravures ont été tirées sur les presses à bras des Editions Georges Visat. Les cuivres ont été rayés après tirage. La typographie, composée en Graramont c. 20 est de Fequet et Baudier"--Colophon.
BEIN Folio Ernst 16: Bookplate of Dorothea Tanning. Copy 1, with suite on Japon. Each of the prints is numbered and signed by Dorothea Tanning. In case as issued.
Consists of 15 bifolia (the last blank) and 10 prints, with each print inserted in a bifolium, and portfolio containing a suite of 10 prints. Fourth through 13th bifolia each have blind-embossed title and text of a poem on recto and verso, respectively, of first leaf; 2nd leaf of each is blank, not counted in collation. Two other blank leaves and final blank bifolium also omitted in collation.
Issued unbound, in illustrated white paper covers with blind-embossed title, in olive brown/green cloth solander case.
Prints comprise 10 on Arches, inserted in the bifolia with the poems, and 10 on Japon nacré, in Arches paper portfolio. Printed by Editions Georges Visat. Each numbered and signed in pencil. Plates effaced after printing. Portfolio has title: Suite sur Japon nacré.
Title page vignette, repeated on front cover, is blind-embossed image rubbed with graphite.
