Papier-mâché snuff box with a cylindrical body and a repeating gilt-rosette and latticework grid design, cover damaged. Housed with a 20th-century sample of snuff from Horace Walpole's tobacconist (Fribourg & Treyer).

Acquired as having been owned by Walpole at Strawberry Hill. Note that this snuffbox is not mounted in gold.

Described in Waller Sale catalog as, described as " ... (3 snuffboxes]; and a circular papier mâché snuff-box. Gift of Lady Viola Waller to W.S. Lewis, December 1948 "as a memento of our beloved Woodcote and my darling Wathen" (see letter dated Dec. 7, 1948, LWL Mss 20, Box: 142, Folder: 7).
