Originally drawn by John Rous. Horace Walpole had the drawings traced and then engraved for his Historic doubts on the life and reign of Richard III. See London edition, 1768 and Strawberry Hill edition 1770.
Not in Manuscript Catalogue of 1763, but recorded in the Description of Strawberry Hill, 1774, among the rare books of prints and drawings in the library.
Provenance: Purchased at the Waller sale, Christie's, 15 December 1947, lot 61 to Maggs for W.S. Lewis.
