Eighth Report of the Ophthalmic Hospital, January 1st to June 30th 1838, p. 97: No. 4605, Tumor of the scalp, December 18th, 1837. Low Tangshow, a laborer of Tungkwan, a young man with lymphatic temperament, had a singular disease upon a hairy scalp, of ten years growth. When he came to the hospital a mass, half the size of his head, hung loose over his right ear and down upon the back of the neck, being situated principally on the crown, back and right sides of the head. On the 25th of April the operation was performed (...). The portion of the scalp taken away was large enough to cover one third of the head. (...) The wound healed kindly and perfectly in about eight weeks and he was discharged on the 19th June.
