Title devised by currator. Inscription in pencil In Thomas Kirgate's hand, upper right corner, above image: "Inscription: This trifle given by Sir James Calquhoun of Luss, Bart. to the Honble. Horace Walpole as a mark of respect." Date based on letter from Horace Walpole to Sir James Calquhuon, thanking him for his gift of the "beautiful goat's horn ... with the inscription with which you have been pleased to overhonour me." See Yale edition of Horace Walpole's correspondence, v. 42, p. 322-3. Formerly shelved as part of the SH Views collection. Unidentified artist. Not in Manuscript Catalogue of 1763.
