Description: Rev. Alvan R. Waller, with his wife and children, sailed to Oregon on the ship Lausanne in 1840, where he worked in the Methodist Episcopal Mission at Willamette Falls and later The Dalles Indian Mission. He became managing agent of Willamette University.
