27 cm. bount to 29 cm. In manuscript, in several hands, on verso of t.p.: "Thy boke belongeth vnto Wyllyam Goodwyn [i.e. William Goodwin, Dean of Christi Church (d. 1620)?] ... And now to me William Rop[er] knight/June 1620/ And now to Antony Rooper esqre. June 1635 And now to Edward Rooper esq. June 1643 ...". On p. 1458 is an 8-line Latin poem in manuscript, signed W.R. (i.e. Sir William Roper, great-grandson of Sir Thomas More), followed by a manuscript genealogy of the descendants of Sir Thomas More through his daughter Margaret; according to it, Sir William Roper was born in 1557 and died in 1628. With the blank leaf [paragraph]10. Bound in old leather over wooden boards, with brass clasps, bosses, and strips. On the front cover is a strip of horn, framed in brass and lettered "William Rooper knyght." Bookplate of Aldenham House, Herts. (Henry Hucks Gibbs, 1st Baron Aldenham).
Colophon: Thus endeth this boke. [paragraph] Imprinted at London in Fletestrete at the sygne of the hande and starre, at the coste and charge of John Cawod, John Walley, and Richarde Tottle. Finished in Apryll, the yere of our Lorde God, 1557 [paragraph] Cum priuilegio ad imprimendum solum.
