Collection contains correspondence, writings, and personal papers relating to Eugene Field. Correspondence consists chiefly of letters to Field from family members, editors, publishers, and writers. Correspondents include Chicago area editors and publishers, such as Victor Fremont Lawson, Melville Elijah Stone, Harriet Monroe, and Slason Thompson, as well as George Washington Cable, Augustin Daly, Field's brother Roswell Martin Field, Hamlin Garland, Hildegarde Hawthorne, Meredith Nicholson, Whitelaw Reid, Bram Stoker, Herbert Stuart Stone, and Francis Wilson. Personal papers include biographical material, writings, and printed ephemera.
