Abstract: The diary was probably written by a private or noncommissioned officer of Company A of the 1st Regiment of Oregon Mounted Volunteers. It describes the march from The Dalles to the support of Maj. Chinn on the Umatilla River and the Indian campaign in the Walla Walla Country. The diary gives details of the country and records the movements of the regiment during the Yakima War. The death of Peu-Peu-Mox-Mox is described.
