Description: A wooden box with brass fixtures and lined with velvet. Inside the box can be found several surgical instruments, including a pair of bone forceps, a trephine handle and bits, a capital saw, a chain saw, a Hey’s saw, scalpels, osteotomes, probes, metacarpal saw, a Buck's drill, a trephine and trephine brush, a curved director, and a spiral tourniquet. Most of the tools have ivory handles. The case bears the name of the manufacturer Wade and Ford of New York, but some of the tools are produced by George Tiemann and Company.
