Description: A surgical/amputation set—housed in a leather-covered wood case, with fitted, covered trays that hold the instruments. Among those are several saws (bow, chain, Hey’s, and metacarpal), several pairs of bone forceps, a trephine and brush, a Buck’s drill, a bone staff, and two tenaculum. This kit belonged to Dr. Samuel D. Gilbert, of the New Haven Hospital.
