Eleven drawings, each depicting a different character with their face in the form of a heart: a man playing a flute; a dour-looking cleryman; a coachman; a vendor wearing a turban; a man in a tricorne hat; an obese man in an armchair with medicine on a side table; a man smoking a pipe. Also two cards wtih older woman clutching a blanket around her shoulders; a pretty young women with a highly decorated hat with feathers and her hands in a muff; and, a female ballad sheet vendor

Each drawing is signed by the artist in lower left corner either initials or full name.
One small pencil drawing of a coffee pot on the verso of the drawing of a dour-looking cleryman.
Date based on a watermark on one of the sheets.
Elizabeth Dubuisson was a portrait painter whose work was displayed at the Royal Academy between 1805-40; she also drew "Character Sketches", a series of caricatures on the Mufflechop Family published by Pewtress and Ackermann approximately 1830. She produced additional drawings similar to these four, with ten being held by the Victoria and Albert Museum (accession no.: E.1091-1992). - Provenance
