A brass plate at the center bottom of the frame identifies the painting as Horatio. Earl of Orford by H. Walton.
Provenance: Purchased from U.S. Embassy, Canberra, Australia where discovered by W. S. Lewis who acquired it through Howard W. Lyon, New York; January 1949, for $1,500.
