A slightly different version of Hazlitt's text on Napoleon from his Preface to Political essays, (2, 1, 3), followed by a quotation from Thomas Moore's The Fudge family in Paris, 1818, Letter VII, lines 145-157 (in Godley's ed. of The poetical works, 1910).
