Abstract: Photograph album with photographs taken by an unidentified photographer of students and teachers at Gibbons High School in Paris, Texas, circa 1915-1919. Depicted are African-American men and women--most of whom are identified--posing alone or in groups
Description: Gibbons (initially known as the Provine Street Colored School), a school for African-American students, was established in Paris, Texas, in 1884. The building burned down circa 1914 and was rebuilt before 1916 March. The school, which included an elementary department and high school, remained open until 1969 May.
