Abstract:: "Whole length portrait of a man standing with his feet crossed. In his right hand is a tasselled cane and under his right arm are sections of a pair of stays in course of construction. He wears a macaroni club, a laced hat, short coat and laced waistcoat, cravat, and ruffled shirt. Probably a stay-maker."--British Museum online catalogue
