- "The Duke of York (left), in uniform, wearing cocked hat, gorget, and sword, runs towards John Bull (right), a stolid yokel in a smock. He says: "Good-Bye Johny-I am going to resign-but dont take it so much to heart, perhaps I may soon come back again". John, who stands hat in hand, holds a handkerchief to his eye, to conceal a smile.
