"The March to Finchley"; scene at Tottenham Court (after the painting in the Foundling Museum) with soldiers gathering to march north to defend London from the Jacobite rebels; the crowd includes, in the foreground, a man urinating painfully against a wall as he reads an advertisement for Dr Rock's remedy for venereal disease, an innocent young piper, a drunken drummer, a young soldier with a pregnant ballad seller (her basket contains "God Save our Noble King" and a portrait of the Duke of Cumberland) and a Jacobite harridan selling newspapers, a milkmaid being kissed by one soldier while another fills his hat from her pail, a muffin man, a young chimney sweep, a gin-seller whose emaciated baby reaches for a drink. Abstract:
A dining room in a tavern is filled with drunken and rowdy men seated around a rectangular and a circular table that have been pushed together. More men and women are pushing through the doorway on the right. In the back of the room, a band of musicians play their instruments. Through the window demonstrators care signs with political messages: "Liberty and property" and "Marry and multiply in spite of the devil and the ..." State with hatching lines throughout strengthened. The space where "the whole" was is in the inscription is now crossed out with lines. Dark areas on the surface of the overturned table are removed

The child Moses is being delivered up by his mother Jochebed (who has been acting as wet nurse) to Thermuthis, the daughter of Pharaoh (Exodus, ii.10; after the painting in the Foundling Museum); to right, the mother/nurse is handed coins by a steward as her son clings to her and looks at his adoptive mother warily; to the left, two female attendants, one a Nubian enslaved woman whispers the secret of Moses identity to her colleague. The scene is identified as being in Egypt by a small crocodile and an Egyptian figure with a snake wrapped around its torso beneath the throne; in the left corner an incense burner. At "The Excise Office" (the Whig stronghold, its name alluding to Walpole's Excise Bill of 1733) with the sign of the Crown and a rioting crowd; and "The Royal Oak" (recalling Tory support for the Stuart monarchy), its sign partly obscured by the banner of "Punch Candidate for Guzzledown" in which the Treasury is being emptied of money that the candidate throws at voters; in the centre, a young country gentleman is being bribed by agents of both parties, while, to right, a portly candidate buys trinkets from a Jewish pedlar for two young ladies on the balcony of "The Royal Oak"; the landlady counts her bribe under the watchful eye of a soldier while she leans against a carved British lion about to devour the fleur-de-lis of France

Abstract:
On the coast of France outside a tavern on the coast of France a group of emaciated soldiers are preparing to sail for England. On the right a soldier roasts frogs over a fire on the blade of his sword; above a flag with the words "Vengence et le Bon Bier et Bon Beuf de Angletére." In the center of the design, a monk tests the edge of an axe as he bends to over a horse-drawn sledge laden with instruments of torture, a statue of St. Antony, and a plan for a monastery at Blackfriars. In the distance on the left a line of soldiers are being forced on board a ship. Above them on the cliffs, women are seen ploughing a field. The sign above the tavern advertises Soup meagre and identifies itself as "La Sabot Royal."

Abstract:
In the streets of the slum Ruins of St. Giles, Westminster, the only business are S. Gripe pawnbroker (left), Kilman Distiller (right) and the undertaker (background right). It is a scene of urban desolation with gin-crazed Londoners -- charity children, mothers and babies, trades people, cripples, etc. -- shown dead or dying, fighting, or stupefied with drink. Notably in the foreground a syphilitic mother sitting on the steps lets her child fall to its death over the railing, towards a flagon labeled "Gin Royal", as she takes a pinch of snuff; below her in the steps, an emaciated, bare-chested ballad-seller sleeps with a glass in one hand and a basket and a jug in the other; the ballad hanging from the basket is entitled 'The downfall of Mdm Gin". His dog looks down at the empty glass. On the right in a crumbling building a barber is shown hanging by his neck; below a crowd is being pushed back towards Kilman Distiller. Mid-ground a woman is being placed in a coffin, her child weeping on the ground beside the coffin. Another child is impaled on a spit and carried along by a cook with a bellows on his head. In the background is the tower of St George's Bloomsbury; in this state, the child's face has been changed so that the face is wizened and the eyes sunken

Outside an English country inn, over whose door a sign reads "Duke of Cumberland Roast and boil'd every day", a group of soldiers and sailors laugh at a large caricature of Louis XV on the tavern wall. They sit with two attractive young women around a table on which sits a large pie, a tankard, and a broadsheet with the verses of "Rule Britannia." In the lower left a soldier leans against a drum as he plays his flute; the music sheet in front of him is "God save Great George our King". To the right, a short well-fed man smiles as he stands on tip-toe to reach the height required by the recruiting sergeant.
