- Description:
- In Latin., Script: The Annals are copied by a single scribe writing Italian Hybrida Libraria under Humanistic influence, using only vertical d. Mantissa, as well as replacement leaves in the preceding text, are copied by a ca. 1600 hand writing Gothico-Humanistica Cursiva., In the original parts of the Annals, pale red headings; pale red stroking of the majuscules and plain alternately pale red and black 2-line initials, either Gothic with some decoration, or slovenly-made Humanistic ones. The parts copied by the second scribe are undecorated., The original part of the manuscript is soiled and waterstained. It had lost two leaves that were later replaced., and Binding: Nineteenth century. Quarter binding, pasteboard covered with brown paper, and white parchment; flat spine with black leather title label with gold-tooled inscription: “MONACHI / PADUANI / CHRONICON / MS.”; below this label an oval label in the same material.

- In Latin., Script: the main text is copied by one hand writing Humanistica Cursiva Currens (Libraria on the first pages), s. XVIin. The final text is by another hand writing the same type of script (Currens). The prologue is written in Humanistica Cursiva Libraria s. XVI/XVII, most headings in the main text by the same hand in less careful script., Guide letters and spaces for 2-line initials (for a 3-line initial on f. 1r and in some other places) have been provided; no initials were executed., and Binding: 18th century. Undecorated yellow parchment over pasteboard. On the spine dark red leather gold-tooled title label with inscription: “CRON. URB. BRIX. / PER MAG. JAC. / DE / MALVET. BRIX. / MS.” Below this label traces of an oval label. Endleaves in decorated paper printed with floral ornament in pink and gold.

- In Latin., Script: copied by one hand in Carolina, marked by the use of Half Uncial and Uncial d, ri- and st- ligatures (but no ct-ligature), and the improper use of the ae-diphthong and e caudata. Noticeable spellings and miswritings: amguitatibus (for ambiguitatibus), conitionaliter (for cognitionaliter), licteris, magestas, proibentur, spetialiter. Headings and plain initials in red; small slightly decorated black initials., Fragments from Codex Iustinianus. There are a few contemporary interlinear glosses (word explanations) and many textual corrections. In the outer margin of f. 1r a red Nota mark and of f. 1v two contemporary notes., and Only the outer margin is partly preserved; at the three other sides the leaf has been severely cropped, with loss of text; the inner top part is torn, and holes have caused some additional text losses. In the outer margin of f. 1r the modern note in pencil: "103/68/8".

- In Latin., Script: copied by two hands, both writing a similar Humanistica Cursiva under Gothic influence, Currens in artt. 1-2, Libraria in art. 3., Space and guide letters for 2-line initials on ff. 1v and 2r, respectively at the beginning of the prologue and of the text proper of art. 2., and The manuscript contains: 1) Final page of a violent invective against a pope (Paul II, 1464-1471, or more probably Alexander VI, 1492-1503) by a woman (repeatedly referring to herself as "ipsa") who had been badly treated by him; it is addressed to another woman. Here attributed to the humanist Filippo Buonaccorsi ("Callimachus"), born 1437 in San Gemignano, d. 1496, a member of the Accademia Romana, who was among the accused of a conjuration against the life of Pope Paul II and had to flee Italy. 2) Francesco Pietrasanta from Milan, De opibus Christianae religionis, a treatise against the wealth of the clergy, addressed to the theologian Filippo Maineri. 3) Two fragments of a history of Florence.

- In Latin., Watermarks: unidentified bull's head concealed by script., Script: Written by a single scribe in well spaced gothic bookhand, above top line. Marginalia in several contemporary hands., Crudely executed penwork initials in red, f. 1r only; spaces for decorative initials at beginning of each book have sketches in brown ink (contemporary?) or are left unfilled. Headings in red. Some guide letters for decorator., and Binding: Fifteenth century, Italy. Vellum stays in and outside the quires. Original sewing on three tawed skin, slit straps which are laced through tunnels in the edges of wooden boards to channels on the outside and pegged. Plain, wound endbands are sewn on tawed skin cores laced or laid in grooves on the outside of the boards. Quarter bound with brown leather, probably a later addition, as perhaps are the clasp straps. Two leaf-shaped catches and inscription in ink on the lower board: "Lucanus [?]". Front pastedown and flyleaf from a lectionary (Italy, 1050-1100); back flyleaf and pastedown from a homiliary (Northern Italy, 950-1000); on the pastedown, a homily on submission to the will of God, probably a continuation of the same text as on the flyleaf.
