Mounted at end of letter a pen and ink drawing representing a medal showing Karl August's head in profile on the obverse and Leonardo da Vinci's and Bossi's on the reverse. Printed in Weimar Ausgabe.

2 p. ; 20 x 20 cm. In Johann August Friedrich John's handwriting. The date was changed by a later hand from 1824 to 1829. Goethe's letter was printed in Weimar Ausgabe, from an unsigned first draft. Enclosure: 2 notes, apparently rough labels for geological specimens.
