"Probably based on G. Cruikshank's 'Boney's Meditations . . .', British Museum Satires No. 12593 (1815), an adaptation of Gillray's 'Gloria Mundi', British Museum Satires No. 6012. The place of Napoleon is taken by George IV (right) who stands on the globe, staggering back from the rays of the sun which contains (in place of his own head) a bust portrait of the Queen (left). He repeats a parody of Milton's lines from 'Paradise Lost': "--To Thee, To Thee, I call!!! but with no friendly Voice & add thy Name oh Queen!! To tell thee how I hate those beams that bring to my Rememberance from what state I'm fallen." On the globe is a map with lines of latitude and longitude; the King's left foot is on a frontier between 'England' and 'Hanover' (towards which he staggers), as if to suggest that he will retire to Germany, cf. British Museum Satires No. 13974. A cherub flies above the Queen holding up a ribbon inscribed 'Innocent', and frowning down at the King. A woman resembling Mrs. Quentin in British Museum Satires No. 13897, emerging from behind the globe, tugs anxiously at the King's coat-tail."--British Museum online catalogue

"A large quasi-cylindrical Green Bag, see British Museum Satires No. 13735, stands at an angle with the ground like a mortar (and suggesting the Regent's Bomb, see British Museum Satires No. 12799), aimed at the Queen (left), who stands with right arm raised, left hand on breast, demonstrating innocence. Castlereagh touches it with a firebrand inscribed Lies, as if putting a match to a touch-hole; flames and papers shoot from the bag, but strike against the large shield, inscribed "Truth" and "Inocence," held by a woman in classical draperies, who is air-borne above the Queen, and raises the flaming sword Justice. She says fiercely: "Back to your Native Hell." She and the Queen are irradiated by a sun in the upper left corner. The flames are inscribed "Adultry" and "Charges"; the papers are "Evidence of the Baron Ompteda Lies &c" [see British Museum Satires No. 13745]; "Adultry with a servant" [Bergami]; "Charges." The blasts of flame strike on the shield and ricochet back against Castlereagh and his supporters, and downwards upon writhing serpents and a skull which have come out of the bag. These boomerang-flames are "Charges Repeld" and "Charges"; they terminate in great clouds of "Smoke." Behind Castlereagh (the only one who stands his ground, though alarmed) are Sidmouth holding his nose, (?) "Queen Caroline, much burlesqued, stands (left) in the grounds of Brandenburgh House, looking up in angry distress at an irradiated sun in the upper right corner of the design containing a bust portrait of George IV and surmounted by a crown. She flinches to the left, holding up an ermine-bordered cloak to screen herself from the rays. In her right hand is a decanter of Brandy [cf. British Museum Satires No. 14175]. She has loose black ringlets, and wears a heavily-feathered black cap; frilled drawers are attached to a very high-waisted and décolletée bodice and display absurd ankle boots with the turned-up toes common in these prints. The rays from the King are inscribed: Westmorland, Camden, Eldon, Liverpool, Harrowby, Clarence, Gifford, Copley. In the background (right) is Alderman Wood, wearing his gown, running towards her, his arms extended, and followed by two braying asses. "A burlesque of Fuseli's well-known picture illustrating 'Macbeth', i. 3. The three witches are Dundas, Pitt, and Thurlow, in profile to the right instead of to the left. Fuseli's drapery is replaced by clouds, and the three gaze with reflective and apprehensive intensity at the moon (right): the Queen's smiling profile in a brightly lit crescent faces them, enclosing the old moon, the darkened head of the King (eclipsed), with closed eyes in profile to the right.
