"An emblematical and composite scene, with a realistic background intended for Lake Como, with the Villa d'Este (right), decorated with dancing figures as in British Museum satires no. 14171. In the foreground the Queen, between Bergami and Wood, falls from the tilting summit of a breaking pillar, supported on insecure props. She falls to the left, with Bergami, whose arm is round her waist. Wood, who holds her left hand, falls to the right, weighed down by a block inscribed 'Log' chained to his ankle. A small figure of Justice holding scales descends through the air towards them. The pillar resolves itself into separate blocks on each of which is a letter: 'M O B / I L I T Y'. A board resting on a ram's head forms the tiny platform from which the trio are falling. The pillar rests on a slab inscribed 'Adultery'. This is supported on the bewigged head of Brougham which is raised on three props: a massive broom, and two beams poised on a rectanglar cage in which sits a second and much smaller lawyer (Denman). The beams are respectively 'Sham Addresses' and 'Hired Processions' [see British Museum satires no. 14182]. These props are flanked by two ladders resting against the 'Adultery' slab, by which Bergami (see British Museum satires no. 14183) and Wood (see British Museum satires no. 13734) have reached the Queen. One (left) is inscribed 'Brass'; from it dangle emblems of Bergami: a postilion's boot, a whip, and a Maltese cross, see British Museum satires no. 13810. The other (right) is 'Wood'; from it dangle a bottle, a pestle and mortar, and a porter's knot. In the foreground (right) are thistles, emblem of 'Thistle-Wood', see British Museum satires no. 14146. On Lake Como sails (left) a one-masted vessel with a tent on its deck, the polacca, see British Museum satires no. 13818. Beyond its shores and on the extreme left are tiny buildings representing Jerusalem. A lake-side signpost, 'To Jerusalem', points in the same direction, and near it the Princess and Bergami ride side by side on asses (see British Museum satires no. 13918, &c.). On the right is a travelling-carriage, with two horses and a postilion; in it sit the same couple. On the door are the letters 'C·B'. "A scene in the House of Commons, showing the Ministerial benches, with the Speaker's Chair and the Table partly cut off by the right margin. The Speaker (Manners Sutton) and one of the Clerks are just within the design. Castlereagh is speaking; he stands in profile to the right, hat in hand, with the Pope on his shoulders. The Pope holds crosier and keys, and wears an odd tiara. A demon crouches on his shoulders dressed as an acolyte, but displaying a cloven hoof; a mask with bland features (a device deriving from Gillray, cf. British Museum Satires No. 11384) is tied in front of his black horned head; he holds up a lighted candle, and clutches the Pope's hair. Castlereagh, with a blandly disingenuous smile: "I have the authority of the Head of the Catholic Church, for saying that there is no solidity in the objection taken on the other side: thus I am legislating with the Pope at my back!!!" The benches behind Castlereagh are crowded; the members listening intently; all wear hats, except Peel who sits immediately behind Castlereagh's empty seat, on the corner of which he has put a hat, inscribed 'Peel'. He looks up to say: "I hope that when the noble Lord observed that [he was legislating with the Pope at his back] he had no allusion to me, even if the noble Lord were willing to put the Popedom in Commission, I should not be willing to accept the office of one of the Commissioners." "A toilet scene. The Regent stands in profile to the right at his dressing-table, rouging his cheek with a small brush. An attendant, resembling McMahon, laces the stays which in front resemble a waistcoat; he tugs at the lace, standing on a low stool, using one foot as a fulcrum against his master's posterior (cf. British Museum Satires No. 8287), a small buffer ornamented with goats' heads being attached to this foot. On the oval mirror which reflects the Prince's face sits a monkey, holding on its head a wig with a pyramid of curls above the forehead with large side-whiskers attached. The Prince's hair is similarly arranged. The Prince's tail-coat, in back view, is spreadeagled on a stand. On an ornate wall-bracket inscribed 'Bills' and 'Recetts' are two ornamental files, one filled with bills: 'hatters Bill', 'Poulterers Bill', 'Fishmongers B', 'Hair Dresser', 'Taylors Bill', 'Butchers Bill', 'Docters Bill', 'Silve smiths Bill'; the other empty. A bracket-clock, surmounted by a figure of Time shearing a triple ostrich plume, points to two o'clock (reversed). A round wall-mirror and candle-sconce is surmounted by a figure of Bacchus bestriding a cask. On the dressing-table are pots and jars of 'Tooth Powder', 'Rouge', 'Otto of Roses', and 'Secilian Wash for the Skin'. "Ministers and others, holding hands, caper in a ring round a pole to which are symmetrically attached the decollated heads of the Cato Street conspirators executed on 1 May, see British Museum Satires No. 13707, &c. Between Sidmouth and the smiling Castlereagh is a man wearing a black mask, and with a blood-stained knife in his mouth, perhaps one of the two who turned King's evidence. On the right, taking Castlereagh's left hand, is the Attorney-General, Gifford, grinning diabolically. Holding Sidmouth's left hand is Vansittart (in his gown). Facing these two are Canning and Chief Justice Abbott in his robes. Four others are poorly characterized. They dance to a fiddle played by Edwards who sits on a grassy mound (right), with an empty gibbet behind his head. "Lord Eldon sits at a high desk above a table, with mace, &c., at which two barristers are writing. He raises his arms in astonishment at the sight of a still (left) inscribed 'The Q--n's Double Destlled [sic] Essence of Bergamot' [with 'ot' scored through and replaced by 'i']; from this the Queen's head emerges, facing the head of Bergami, which issues from an arm of the still. This is surrounded by smoke and stands on a bench, behind which on a low platform stand Louise Demont and Majocchi, pointing at the object, the latter saying: "Non me Ricordo." A barrister, probably Copley, stands near them, saying: "It's a strong proof but froieng [sic] brew'd and out of our power to discover the Makers."
