Tiernan, including the Alameda and El Capitan. The painting of the El Capitan flies a banner that reads "S.F. & O.R.R. Co.", probably the San Francisco & Oakland Railroad Company. The mounts for these photographs include printed information regarding the length of deck, breadth of beam, depth of hold, tonnage, stroke, and cylinder of each ship, An image depicts the North Pacific steamship, probably of the North Pacific Transportation Company, and an inscription in the painting attributes its construction to builders Gates and Collyer, San Francisco, and An image of the Amador steamship, which does not include any builder identification, but includes the date of 1869 within the image, and an inscription on the verso identifies it was built for the California Steam Navigation Company
