- "Two men sit beside a blazing fire in a well-furnished room, overcome by drink, and fast asleep. One, a stout officer in regimentals, wearing a cocked hat, seated in an arm-chair (right), has thrust his wooden leg into the fire, where it is burning. The ashes of his pipe fall on to the tail of a dog asleep under his chair. His companion sits (left) supporting his head on his elbow, which rests on a round table on which are a punchbowl, glasses, and a candle, in which his wig is burning.
