Dr. Slop sleeps in an armchair on the left beside the fireplace, his chin resting on his large belly. In the background Uncle Toby and Walter Shandy sit smoking. Behind them in the corner against the wall is a grandfather's clock and on the wall Toby's map of the fortifications of Namur. A three-cornered hat is shown on the floor in the foreground

"An engraving, which represents a clergyman (? Jeremy Taylor) showing to a lady (?
