Script: Copied by a single hand in an abbreviated Northern Gothica Textualis Libraria. F. 55v is badly written by a contemporary hand., Decoration: Red headings, expect on on ff. 14v-21r and 39v to the end, where they are not executed or are replaced by headings in brown ink written by later hands. Red stroking of majuscules. 2-line (3-line on ff. 1v and 10r) red plain initials, often with very long and developed penwork extensions in the same color in the margins or in the intercolumnar space. F. 55v is undecorated., Binding: Original binding of red pigskin over rounded wooden boards, sewn on two split leather thongs. The covers are blind-tooled with a frame and a St Andrew's cross traced in fillets. Plaited headbands. Remnants of a strap fixed to the rear board. Description:
In Latin., Script: copied by three hands: A copied ff. IIr-IIIv (the first section of art. 1) and ff. 1r-184v (Books 1 and 2 of art. 2) in Gothica Semihybrida Libraria; B copied f. IVr-v (the second section of art. 1) in Gothica Semihybrida Currens; C copied ff. 185r-355v (Books 3 and 4 of art. 2) in a narrower and more rapid Semihybrida Libraria with Bastarda features., Collation impossible due to the tight binding. Most quires appear to contain twelve leaves. Horizontal catchwords at right, mostly lost at the trimming of the codex (see e.g. ff. 130v and 142v)., There is no decoration in art. 1 (a 3-line initial was provided on f. IIr). In art. 2 red headings, underlining of authorities and stroking of majuscules; 2-line plain initials, sometimes with long marginal extensions, in red or green in; similar 3-line plain initials at the beginning of each Distinctio in Books 3 and 4 (scribe C); The Prologue (f. 1r) and Book 2 open with a flourished littera duplex in the same colours (c. 6 lines). Books 1 and 3 open with a plain initial, respectively 3 and 5 lines; the opening of Book 4 has no special initial. The decoration is missing in some series of pages, such as ff. 162v-166v and 174v-177v., and Binding: original, red-dyed pigskin over non-bevelled heavy wooden boards; the covers are blind-tooled with frames of thick and thin fillets and floral tools; on both covers the binder's name "Gassner" is stamped in a scroll. Five small brass bosses on each cover. Remnants of two brass clasps, attached to the rear cover, with engraved catches on the front cover. Spine with four raised bands. Yellow edges.

In Latin., Script: two scribes: art. 1 is copied in Gothica Cursiva Formata close to Fractura; art. 2 in Gothica Semihybrida Currens with many abbreviations; in this art. the first line of each chapter is in clumsily executed large Gothica Textualis Formata., Headings, paragraph marks, stroking of majuscules and underlining of the references to the authorities and their works, all in red ink (the underlining was beforehand traced by the scribe in black ink). Plain red 1-line initials at the opening of each chapter, sometimes with marginal extensions (a 3-line initial at the beginning of the text, f. 9r). Instructions for the rubricator are found in the margins., and Binding: original undecorated red pigskin over wooden boards; spine with four raised bands. Two clasps attached to the rear cover, with quadrangular brass catches on the front cover; a hole about the center of the top of the rear cover indicates that the booklet once was a liber catenatus. On the front cover a rectangular parchment title label with handwritten inscription in Gothica Cursiva Libraria: “De confessione. De amore Dei. De beatitudine” (16th century?).

In Latin., Watermarks: unidentified bull's head and mountain., Script: Written in a small neat gothic text hand with hybrida features., Plain red 5-line initial, in outline only, f. 3r; two smaller initials of similar style, ff. 3v-4r. First letter of each verse stroked with red, ff. 3r-4r. Spaces left for decorative initials remain unfilled elsewhere in codex., and Binding: Fifteenth century, Germany. Adhered vellum stays on the inside of the quires. Original wound sewing on three wide, tawed skin, slit straps laced through tunnels in the edges of beech boards to channels on the outside and pegged. Natural color endbands, caught up on the spine, are sewn to tawed cores laced into grooves on the outside of the boards. Front pastedown: reused paper manuscript with text side pasted face down. Quarter bound in blue, tawed skin with a strip, now wanting, nailed along the edge. Two leaf-shaped catches with three five-petalled flowers on them on the lower board and the upper one cut in for kermes pink straps attached with metal plates; damage from a chain fastening at the head of this board, and the board broken; outer edge wanting. Title, in same (?) hand as on f. 1r, on upper and lower boards: "Ouidius methamorphoseos."

In Latin., Script: banderole text in a small Gothic bookhand., Decoration: an example of the simple illustration style known as "nonnenarbeiten," which are devotional images produced by medieval nuns for personal use. The nun and Christ are placed in a grassy field comprised of penstrokes covered with a green wash. Details like Christ's wounds are conveyed through penstrokes as well. The instruments of the Passion are individually colored with wash: red and black for the cock, orange for the sponge, and orange for parts of the spear. An alternating blue and orange wash has been used to decorate the border of the miniature., and Binding: individually mounted on parchment.
