"Satire on Cambridge academics: scene at a pottery market where a fat don trips over two fighting dogs and grabs the collar of a thin gentleman as he falls towards a table laden with pots for sale; the stall-holder rushes from the left to save him from damaging her stock and two of the don's colleagues stand behind the table laughing. On the right a fat woman bargains with another stall-holder for a chamber pot and tureen; behind them a young student approaches a well-dressed young woman with a cross hanging around her neck; in the foreground, a baby has fallen into a flower pot and a dog who has had a barber's wig-stand tied to his tail runs to right barking; in the background, King's College Chapel."--British Museum online catalogue

Image above 6 stanzas of explanatory poetry engraved in double columns. A balding lady on horseback in Hyde Park's Rotten Row loses her tête or head-dress to a gust of wind, as her horse bolts toward the right. Two other horsemen as well as a gardener and other passers-by debate the identity of the fallen wig which is decorated with ostrich plumes in the fashion of the period

An enormously fat man holds a walking stick in his right hand as he stands before a lake or river. He wears a tricorne hat and gloves, together with the huge buttons and shoe buckles popular around 1777. Possibly a caricature of Sir Watkin Lewes

In a park with trees, a fashionably dressed man and woman encounter each other near the footpath. The man wears a sword, large shoe-buckles, and enormous buttons which flash at the lady who recoils from their brightness. She is dressed in a tight-waisted dress of the period, with cork bustle and she wears her hair in high pyramidal style, topped by a hat with long feathers

A satire on governmental policy towards America, depicting the deck of a sailing ship, with George III at the helm between 2 large masts. Behind him is the tartan-clad Earl of Bute, and at the rail the Devil casts the lead, announcing "no bottom." The King is depicted as saying "I trust all to you Sawney for I cannot see twice the length of my nose," while Bute reponds "Steady boy, steady and never fear while I am at the cun & my trusty friend at the lead, my dog vane is infallable." On the right of the print near a mast, a sailor warns another Scotsman that the ship is about to strike "the breakers of America" to which the latter replies "Hold your peace man; my Lord has provided cork jackets for all of his party as soon as this damned ship is wreck'd."
