Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and One of the smallest of some eight walled cities in our Suifu outstation district where we only are doing Protestant Christian work. (+ I am the only foreign pastor!) This is beautiful Gung Hsein, 70 eng miles from Suifu, to the S.E. [now Yibin] A distance view of the village, which is surrounded by trees and mountains.

It looks a bit insignificant here, but I'm sure you can easily imagine that in actuality it made a truly inspiring sight. Here we have rhododendrons in the foreground. There is a second nearer + smaller snow peak at the right. The high peak was 28 miles away. " In the foreground are hills covered with greenery. Far in the background is the snowy peak.
Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and At the top of Tai San, the holy mount of Shantung province. The stairs are so steep that men and boys help pilgrims up the slope. [now Tai Shan] [now Shandong] A temple is visible at the top of the mountain, with many stairs leading to it.

Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and Chang Chia Chuan, East Kansu, the stronghold of Islam in South Eastern Kansu and headquarters of one branch of the Djahariah Order. Fourteen mosques minister to the needs of the people. On market day, which occurs every second day, people from miles around make the streets almost impassible, yet women are seldom seen at these times.

Also included in the International Mission Photography Archive. and Hsuan Hua Kang above Chang Chia Chuan on the hillside to the north. Here in the large mausoleum rests the head of Ma Hua-lung, one of the leaders of the rebellion of 1862-1876. His spiritual descendents, including Ma Yuan-chang, his son-in-law, are buried here close by.
