"Ministers and others, holding hands, caper in a ring round a pole to which are symmetrically attached the decollated heads of the Cato Street conspirators executed on 1 May, see British Museum Satires No. 13707, &c. Between Sidmouth and the smiling Castlereagh is a man wearing a black mask, and with a blood-stained knife in his mouth, perhaps one of the two who turned King's evidence. On the right, taking Castlereagh's left hand, is the Attorney-General, Gifford, grinning diabolically. Holding Sidmouth's left hand is Vansittart (in his gown). Facing these two are Canning and Chief Justice Abbott in his robes. Four others are poorly characterized. They dance to a fiddle played by Edwards who sits on a grassy mound (right), with an empty gibbet behind his head. A collection of 41 printed items that chronical the 1820 plot to murder the Prime Minister, Lord Liverpool, and his cabinet, so named for location where the thirteen conspirators meet near Edgware Road in London. The police learned of the plot through an informer, George Edwards, leading to a police trap in which one policeman, Richard Smithers, was killed, but the plotters were apprehended. Five other conspirators were transported to Australia. The collection includes portraits of the plotters, views of the Cato Street area and the interior of the loft where they were found, broadsides describing the events (some with images), and descriptions of the execution of five of the conspirators. The collection includes a series of portrait prints by Robert Cooper after drawings by Abraham Wivell that were published as illustrations to Thomas Kelly's "The Cato Street Conspiracy" (1820). A drawing signed "Peter Jackson, July 31, 1960" is a 20th-century view of the exterior of the London building where the conspirators were discovered

One from the group of men who have apprehended Tom show him the knife as the others restrain him; they are armed with pitchforks, sticks, and other farm tools. Ann lies on her back on the ground, the bundle of plate that she has stolen from her mistress at Nero's request spilling out at her side. The light from the lantern in the left foreground illuminates the contents of Ann's letter to Tom telling the story of her entanglement and guilt. A box with her initials is open revealing a copy of the Book of Common Prayer and a copy of God's revenge against murder. Also on the ground near the lantern are Tom's pistol and a collection of watches that he has stolen. The clock in the church tower shows 1:00; a bat and owls circle overhead
