In Latin., Script: copied by three hands. A copied the parchment f. 1r-v in a large Southern Gothica Semitextualis Libraria/Formata; B copied ff. 2r-177r, 180r4-183v and 185r-216v in a handwriting hesitating between Southern Gothica Semitextualis Libraria close to Cancelleresca and Hybrida Libraria; C copied ff. 177v-180r3, 184r, 217r-247v in Southern Gothica Semitextualis Libraria. The majuscules at the opening of the verses are set apart and are carefully executed in various styles; in the main hand B the shape of "S" is conspicuous. The unevenly spread interlinear and marginal gloss is in tiny script by various contemporary hands., and Binding: S. XV northern European binding: red leather over wooden boards, both covers blind-tooled with frames and St. Andrew's crosses traced in double fillets.

In French., Script: Copied by one hand in a small Gothica Hybrida Formata (loopless Bastarda)., Line-fillers in liquid gold on red, blue or brown ground. 2-line (rarely 3- or 4-line) initials on square background, in liquid gold on coloured background or in colour, heightened with white, on liquid gold background decorated with leaves and flowers. Six miniatures., and Binding: Early nineteenth century. Cross-grained red leather over pasteboard, the covers gold-tooled with a decorative border, the turn-ins gold-tooled with dentelle border; brownish marbled endpapers; the spine gold-tooled with flowerets and the title "L'ORDRE D'UN CHEF DE GUERRE PAR D'AUBIGNY".

Text undecorated, with the following exceptions: plain 2-4-line initials (Capitalis) in red or blue on pp. 1, 152, 155, 188; 5-line white vinestem initial integrated in a three-margins-left border in the same style on p. 3; the initial and border have been attributed by Albinia C. de la Mare to Giovanni d'Antonio Varnucci (1416-1457)., and Binding: 19th-20th centuries; brown morocco over cardboard. Both covers are blind-tooled with frames of fillets and four different flower tools. Five raised bands are on the spine.

Scribe 1) ff. 1r-37v, 67v-75v; Scribe 2) ff. 39r-67r., One 6-line initial, red and blue, filled with red and blue penwork in a floral pattern. 4-, 2-, and 1-line pen initials, red, with long trailing serifs and blue calligraphic flourishes. 2- and 1-line initials outside text column. On f. 1r, arms of the duchy of Austria (crudely executed; later addition?):, or, two eagles palewise displayed and crowned sable (Hungary): impaled with barry of 6 gules and argent; supported by griffins passant gules; the whole set between thick pink bands. Line-fillers red undulating lines. Rubrics throughout., and Binding: Sixteenth century. Sewn on three supports, the two outer ones leather, the central one tawed skin, laid and nailed in channels in wooden boards. Plain wound primary endbands sewn on a tawed core at the head and a leather one at the tail, laid in grooves and nailed, with a secondary embroidery added.
