"An old old picture taken about 1900 I think. Bishop Joice [Joyce] our first visiting bishop was going to Ck [Chongqing]. The new rapids had formed when a hillside slid into the Yangtze. Men are working to make the river more easily passable for boats. (W.E.M.'s note)." A large number of men are seen working at the site of a landslide along the Yangtze River.
