"Whole length portrait of a man standing with his feet crossed. In his right hand is a tasselled cane and under his right arm are sections of a pair of stays in course of construction. He wears a macaroni club, a laced hat, short coat and laced waistcoat, cravat, and ruffled shirt. Probably a stay-maker."--British Museum online catalogue

A widow with her gouty foot elevated, sits on a stool in front of her cottage, as her daughter wipes away a tear in the doorway. A tax collector with a book under his arm examines the widow's possessions, which are strewn about the ground in front of the house. Included are a bellows, chair, candlesticks, and cauldron. The cow's head is visible on the left. In the foreground a young squire in riding dress is in the act of offering the old woman a purse, as he eyes her pretty daughter

Depicts a young lady, fashionably dressed, walking and carrying an enormous parasol to cover her monumental hair, which is dressed in the extravagant heart-shaped style of the period, with curls on the sides, flowers and ostrich plumes at the top. She also apparently wears the fashionable cork bustle, with the back of her protruding skirt providing a ledge on which a "foppishly dressed man" is seated, sheltered by her hair and umbrella. On the left in front of the lady a rustically dressed man has dropped his hat in amazement, while behind her a gentleman in a tricorne hat and leaning on a walking stick points and laughs at the spectacle

A very plump young woman in a bonnet stands in a park leaning forward into the wind ; her skirt is blown tightly around her backside and above her knees. Two foppish looking men eye her with amusement, the one using an eyeglass, the other holding his hat and wearing a long braided coat. Another couple on the right, struggle with an umbrella in the wind. Like the woman on the left, this woman's dress is also blown above her knees; her companion is dressed in wide trousers tied at the ankles. Between these two scenes, in the distance, a young woman walks along a rail toward the left struggling against the wind; a little black footboy follows her holding the hem of her skirt and her reticule. Beyond the rail another man and a woman struggle in the wind with their hats and she with her umbrella

"Lord Denbigh (right) stands in profile to the left on a country road, his aquiline nose exaggerated. A procession of six foxhounds, the last of which has just left his mouth, runs down his body and along the road from right to left. A fox runs across a field on the right and Denbigh holds out his right arm as if directing the hounds towards it. The road is edged by trees; a sign-post behind Denbigh has two arms, one (left) points "To Coventry", the other (right) "To Lutterworth". On the right is a milestone, "XI miles to Coventry". The background is an undulating landscape of grass and trees with a rectangular country house in the distance."--British Museum online catalogue
