Pair of wash drawings, one above the other, showing overall and detail views of the bronze hand kept by Horace Walpole in the Tribune at Strawberry Hill. Described by Walpole as "an Egyptian hieroglyphic hand," this sculpture is shown in the top drawing to stand upright with the wrist as its base. The thumb, index finger, and middle finger point upwards with items balancing upon their tips; the last two fingers are curled inward towards the palm. The bottom drawing shows in detail the pictures and symbols that decorate the palm and back side of the hand; these include a snake that wraps around the entirety of the hand

In the upper left is a depiction of Henry VIII's dagger, a Turkish work having a case and handle of chalcedonyx set with diamonds and rubies; the blade of steel damasked with gold is hidden here by the case. In the upper right is a depiction of a silver Turkish ornament, long and narrow with ornamentation in gold and blue on both ends. At the bottom is a depiction of the ornate prayer book supposedly made for Claude, Queen of France, wife of Francis I; visible is the spine of gold enamelled and adorned with rubies and turquoises, as well as the cover of cornelian that was engraved with religious subjects
