"Napoleon, trampling over the map of Europe from 'Germany' to the 'British Channel', drops his sabre and raises his left leg, leaving behind the front part of his left foot, planted on the coast and sea between 'Holland' and 'France'. The foot has been slashed off by a little John Bull, who stands on the ocean pointing down at the two islands of 'Great Britain' and 'Ireland', towards which the amputated foot points. John holds a dripping sword, and looks up at the angry giant, saying, "I ax pardon Master Boney, but as we says Paws off Pompey, we keep this little Spot to Ourselves You must not Dance here Master Boney." Blood gushes from both sides of the amputation. Bonaparte, who wears his huge cocked hat, shouts, with gestures of pain and anger: "Ah you tam John Bull!! You have spoil my Dance, !! You have ruin all my Projets!!" 'Switzerland' and 'Italy' are also marked on the map in close proximity to France."--British Museum online catalogue

Charles Fox, dressed as Cromwell, paints the execution of Charles I, using royal crown and sceptre as artist's tools. Above the canvas hangs a painting showing a fox, with the Liberty cap on a stick, presenting a male figure of America with a sheet of paper inscribed, "Independence." Behind Fox stands the angry female figure of Justice, her blindfold removed, a sword inscribed, "justice," in her right hand. In the left hand she holds a pair of scales of which the one filled with "loyalty" outweighs the one holding a fox. On the floor lies an open volume entitled, "Patriotism by C. Cromwell," propped on the hilt of a sword labeled, "Commonwealth."

"The patient sits in an armchair in profile to the left, in the centre of a well-furnished room. He wears dressing-gown and nightcap, his arms are folded and he stares fixedly, assailed by ghostly visions which float before his eyes, emerging from smoke-like shadows: a skeleton, Death, poised just above him, raises his arrow to smite. A corpse-like half length figure offers him a pistol and a halter. A spectre with webbed wings holds out a cup. Two staring and decapitated heads glare from the shadows which fill the room. A hand raises a sword; a man with a knife is about to be stung by a serpent. A naked body (half length) falls head downwards. Above these spectres is a man (left) driving a hearse (right to left) at full gallop and looking round at the Hypochondriac. Behind the patient a good-looking woman speaks confidentially to a doctor who meditatively sucks his cane. He is dressed in an old-fashioned manner, wearing a tie-wig. A table covered with medicines stands behind the patient, who seems unconscious of the other two. A money-chest beside him suggests that he is miserly. A harlot sits on a curved sofa, her right arm resting on a table in front of her. In her right hand she holds a set of scales as she points to the gold coin in the scales which indicate that the guinea given her by the her companion is defective. An officer in a macaroni-style wig and captain's uniform (with sword and cutlass) wears a slight smile on his face as he stands at the table, hands in his pockets, watching her weigh the gold. On the wall behind them is a picture of Justice holding her scales further amplyfing the subject. Opposite the table on the right is an upholstered chair
