"Print of a country 'quack' doctor standing behind an alarmed looking female patient with his fingers in her mouth. A young boy stands on the left holding a dish and pliers. In the background stands a woman wearing a ... cape and holding the side of her mouth whilst exhibiting obvious pain. Suspended from the ceiling is a bird in a cage. A bill on the wall reads: 'Barnaby Factotum / Draws teeth Bleeds and Shaves / Wigs made here, also sausages / wash Balls, Black puddings. / Scotch pills Powder for the Itch / Red Herrings / Breeches Balls / and small beer by the maker / In Utrumque Paratus'."--Royal Collection Trust online catalogue and "Print of a tailor seated cross legged on a table as he irons a garment. Beside him on the table, stands a pewter tankard and shears. A second tailor, also ironing, sits behind the first with a look of surprise cast in the direction of a woman who stands at the door holding a basket of ?cucumbers on her head. The woman resembles Rowlandson's etching of a 'Shrimp Girl' (RCIN 913702). "A fashionable dentist is extracting the teeth of the poor in order to insert 'live teeth' immediately into the jaws of his patients. In the centre a young chimney-sweep sits in an arm-chair, over the back of which the dentist leans, holding the boy's head, and inserting an instrument into his mouth. Next (left) a lady sits in a similar chair watching the sweep with a pained and angry expression; she holds a smelling-bottle to her nose; she has just endured an extraction and is about to receive a transplantation. On the right a good-looking young lady leans back, her fists clenched in pain, while a spectacled dentist peers closely into her face, placing his instrument in her mouth. Behind her a lean, ugly, and elderly man wearing regimentals stands in profile to the right, holding a mirror in which he inspects his mouth with a dissatisfied expression. On the left a ragged boy and girl are leaving the room, both crying with pain: the girl inspects the coin in her hand. On the door is a placard: 'Most Money Given for live Teeth'. A placard on the wall is headed by a coronet and two ducks, indicating quackery: 'Baron Ron------Dentist to her High Mightiness the Empress of Russia'. Cf. "The dentist, short, fat, and bald, stands in back view on a low stool, his knees pressed against the chair, his left arm round the victim's neck; he tugs at an upper tooth. The thin elderly patient raises her left leg in agony, overturning the folding wash-stand on which the dentist's appliances are spread. These include a basin, cup (both spilling their contents), a double set of teeth, a hammer, and a stoppered jar which falls against a large pier-glass, starring it. Both are unaware of the accident, though a little dog barks from under the table. The glass reflects dentist and patient, showing the latter gripping the arm of the chair. There is a window (right), the lower part screened by a slatted green shade. Above this dangle teeth with large blood-stained roots. On a chest of drawers-bookcase are laid out sets of false teeth. The books are Warbler; Winter in London; Lock on the Gums; Miseries of Human Life [Beresford, see See British Museum catalogue No. 10815, &c]; Bible; Tales of the Devil; Tommy Two Shoes; Treatise on Tooth Powder & Brushes; Feast of Wit; Tales of Terror, and two big volumes of Frankensteiv [sic] [Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, published 1818].
