A small man in oversized clothes stands in profile in the foreground holding a walking stick and a wig at which he is looking pensively. Behind him is a small cottage-like building with a striped barber's pole mounted on the roof. In a large diamond pattern window is a skeleton, a wig stand, and a pet monkey. Above the window a large sign reads: "Matt. Manna apothecary, surgeon, corn-cutter, &c., &c. Man midwife, gentlemen shaved & hogs gelded. Shave for a penny & bleed for 2 pence."
