Next to him, an older man grips the arms of his chair in apparent discomfort while the barber cuts his hair. To the right, the third gentleman is being covered with a sheet by his barber. In the foreground on the right stands a large open trunk with a boot jack, next to it, pair of slippers. A large tasselled curtain hangs in the background. A tricorne hat hangs on a peg on the wall
