The head of Louis XVI lies on the platform at the base of a guillotine, his hands tied behind his back, blood pouring from the blade and his head. The swirls of blood ascend and swirl around the guillotine like clouds of smoke and etched in this cloud are a long speech pleading for justice from the British nation and beginning: Wither, O wither shall my blood ascend for Justice? My throne is seized on by my murderers ...

Two medallions side-by-side contrast British Liberty and French Liberty. On the left Britannia is seated under a large oak looking out to sea at a ship under full sail. A gallows separates the design into two compartments. A sign in the center reads "Roberspierre, Marat, Santerre." The crossbar reads "Held up to infamy and posterity." Another sign hangs from the left arm and reads "Paine's Rights of Man." The sign on the right side reads "Classical lectures on the Roman History.", The scene on the left half is labelled at the top "Old England" and depicts naval and commercial prosperity under the bright skies. Three columns labelled Virtue, Honor and Loyalty stand over the words British Constitution; at the base of the drawing are the words "is basis, the happiness of the people.", and The scene on the right half is labelled at the top "New France", and in contrast, all is death and destruction: cities in ruins, bodies hanging from gallows, a bloody guillotine along with other instruments of torture. Flowing from the guillotine into a shaft underground are discarded fragments: religion, pubk. credit, monarchy, laws, trade, honor, loyality, virtue, art ...

Abstract:
A large naked monster sits astride a large cup, which is balanced on a dagger held in the mouth of a small sansculotte juggler who exclaims, " By Gar tis var heavy, O dear! O dear! It will fall!" The monster holds in his hands the heads of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. On his head five daggers meet at a point to form a cap labelled "Cap of Liberty." He grins showing sharp teeth, two labels issuing from his mouth, " Ca ira, ca ira, ca ira" and "Hold me well up or I will bit off your head."

"Five British sailors make a furious attack on six French soldiers, grotesque and terrified creatures, whom the sailors humiliate and insult. Their officer (left), who holds a British flag, is threatened by a sailor with clenched fists, and excretes, terrified. A sailor with a scourge slashes the bared posteriors of a Frenchman who grovels on the ground, saying, "oh le pauvre Commandant"; he says, "Now foutre you'l take 2 Merchants Ships for a fleet of Men of War again". A Frenchman, nearly throttled by an angry sailor, cries "Ca-ira Ca-ira". A sailor pulls the queue of the drummer, to whom he offers a piece of tobacco, saying, "here you B--g--r heres a stale Quid for you Instead of Hartshorn". A sailor on the extreme right pulls the queue of a Frenchman and raises his club to strike; the latter says, "oh Diable we was Make de Dam Mistake Parblue". "Five heads surround a taper whose flame is the head in profile to the left of George III. The taper rises from the centre of a crown which rests on a tasselled cushion in the foreground. On the left is Sheridan in profile, his face disfigured by drink, puffing angrily; next is Fox facing three-quarter length to the right, with a fierce expression. Next is the Prince of Wales, alarmed and rather fierce; beside him is Mrs. Fitzherbert, wearing breeches round her shoulders, one leg terminating in a garter inscribed 'Honi Soit...' A cartoon illustrating the first reactions in England to the news of the fall of the Bastille. On the right, the radiant figure of Liberty sits enthroned on the ruins of the Bastille.
